European tilt and turn egress window open inward in a finished basement

European Tilt & Turn Egress Windows

One handle, two ways to open. Tilt the top in for safe ventilation, or swing the whole window open like a door for the easiest escape from a basement.

How it works

Closed, tilted or wide open

Turn the handle up to tilt, sideways to swing open. The sash always opens into the room, so it never hits a grate or the side of the well.

Twin tilt and turn windows in the closed position

Closed & locked

Multi-point locking hardware pulls the sash tight against the frame all the way around.

Twin tilt and turn windows tilted inward at the top

Tilted to vent

The top tips in a few inches for fresh air that is secure and keeps rain out.

Twin tilt and turn windows swung fully open

Turned open

The whole sash swings in 90 degrees: the widest opening for escape, and easy cleaning.

Why we lead with it

Built for escape, built to last

We were the first egress company to use European Tilt & Turn windows for basement egress, and today they're our signature window. They are German-engineered and made in Europe, where energy standards are higher, with steel-reinforced vinyl frames that stand up to Colorado's temperature swings.

  • Easier, faster escape, especially for children
  • In-swing sash works with a grate over the well
  • Steel-reinforced vinyl that never needs paint
  • Energy-efficient glass, starting around a .28 U-value
  • Screens included; integral blinds available

One handle does it all. Turn it once to tilt the top in for fresh air, turn it again to swing the window wide open for an emergency exit.

Reviews

Tilt & Turn owners weigh in

“All I can say is Wow! I'm super happy with the European tilt windows we purchased from Denver Egress. If you are looking for something different than cookie cutter accents for your home, give them a call--They have the answers!”

Kathleen Houlihan

“My experience with Denver Egress was entirely positive. I was pleasantly surprised with the short wait time. Everyone-- salesman, concrete cutting crew, digging crew, installer, cleanup crew--were competent and respectful. Re: the windows themselves, I chose the European tilt-and-turn models and have no regrets. They are heavy, secure, and efficient. I recommend Denver Egress without reservation!”

Wesley Aardahl

“Great initial consultation – no high-pressure, "sign now, get 10% off” harassment. Good product, good advice, which ultimately led to a punctual, courteous installation at a decent price! Highly recommend (have done so already, actually).”
